Clear rules. Better hosting.
Pre-launch service terms outlining expected account use, Minecraft server responsibilities, and the commercial details that must be finalized.
01 / Status of these terms
Starbound Hosting is in pre-launch development. These terms are an informational draft and are not a finalized agreement for paid hosting. Public paid orders and live service guarantees are not yet offered.
02 / Accounts and security
Users should provide accurate registration information, protect their credentials, and avoid sharing recovery codes. Account owners are responsible for activity carried out through their accounts, subject to applicable law.
03 / Permitted use
Any future hosting services are intended for lawful Minecraft server operation. Users must respect the rights of others, applicable law, and the relevant Minecraft EULA and Usage Guidelines. Starbound is not affiliated with Mojang Studios or Microsoft.
Third-party software: Server owners remain responsible for obtaining permission to use third-party plugins, mods, resource packs and other software they install. Starbound's hosting service is independent of the Minecraft brand owners.
04 / Prohibited activity
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDProposed restrictions include malware distribution, phishing, credential theft, unauthorized network attacks, abusive traffic, illegal content, and activity that interferes with other customers or infrastructure. Detailed enforcement and appeal procedures must be approved before launch.
05 / Service availability and maintenance
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDMinecraft server versions, storage, memory, network resources, support availability, maintenance windows, uptime targets, and backup arrangements will be defined for each final plan. No uptime or recovery guarantee is made by this draft.
06 / Backups and customer content
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDServer owners should maintain their own copies of important worlds, configurations, and plugins. Future terms must state backup frequency, retention, restore limitations, and who is responsible for data loss. No unverified automatic-backup promise is made.
Customer-created content: Future hosting terms should distinguish ownership of uploaded worlds, plugins, configurations and other content from the limited technical access needed to operate or troubleshoot a server. We will not claim rights to customer creations or promise a particular deletion or export deadline until those rules are approved.
07 / Billing, renewal and taxes
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDPrices currently shown are illustrative. Final terms must specify the legal seller, total price and taxes, billing interval, renewal rules, accepted payment methods, and procedures for failed payments. No paid hosting orders are currently available.
08 / Cancellation, refunds and consumer rights
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDCancellation steps, refund eligibility, and any statutory EU/Finland consumer withdrawal rights must be established before paid sales begin. Mandatory consumer protections cannot be overridden by these terms.
Before checkout opens: Customers must be shown the applicable total charges, renewal and cancellation rules, any legally required withdrawal information, and a way to review the order. This draft does not create a no-refunds policy or waive statutory rights.
09 / Suspension and termination
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDThe final terms must explain when service access may be limited for abuse, security incidents, nonpayment, or legal requirements, including notice, appeals, and data retrieval where applicable.
10 / Liability and applicable law
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDAny limitation of liability, governing law, dispute resolution information, and mandatory consumer rights must be reviewed for the actual legal operator and customer markets before publication.
11 / Contact and version
DETAILS TO BE VERIFIEDThe operator's legal name, business address or required contact details, support contact, effective date, and version history are still required.
